Empowering Creativity: ALBOE and Hudson Yard’s Hell’s Kitchen Alliance Collaborate
On September 5th, 2019, ALBOE and the Hudson Yard’s Hell’s Kitchen Alliance joined forces to present a free, public workshop focused on the fundamentals of street art. The event welcomed participants to Bella Abzug Park in Hudson Yards, offering the chance to explore the techniques of spray painting and wheat-pasting. All this while basking in the presence of the iconic honeycomb-inspired structure, The Vessel.
ALBOE orchestrated the creation of a custom hexagonal wooden framework, along with a standalone wall, providing attendees with platforms to unleash their creativity. These setups catered to both children and adults, offering a diverse range of mediums to bring their imaginative visions to life. The workshop drew participants of varying ages and backgrounds, forming a testament to the enchanting synergy between art, community, and collaboration.
The activities were equally diverse—ranging from customizing backpacks and spray-painting tags and characters to coloring and wheat-pasting Meshac Absolu’s whimsical cartoons. The event drew a spectrum of participants, including graffiti writers, art enthusiasts, and individuals who had never before engaged with such mediums. Together, they discovered the joy of creating in unison, unraveling endless possibilities through their shared efforts.
