Nurturing Artistic Expression: NYU's School of Professional Studies Curation Initiative
Commencing in January 2018, NYU's School of Professional Studies embarked on an inspiring curation initiative in the Preston Robert Tisch Center lobby. This endeavor provided a platform for educators and students to showcase their creations on the East Wall of NYU's contemporary, state-of-the-art building situated at 7 East 12th Street. This building stands as the distinguished residence of SPS and its advisors, accommodating both undergraduate and graduate studies. The works of art, ranging from prints and paintings to photography, transformed the lobby into an engaging gallery space. Each display was commemorated with an opening event, followed by a month-long exhibition.
The unorthodox art gallery became a canvas for unveiling the passions and disciplines of the participating artists beyond their academic pursuits in areas such as hospitality, tourism, sports management, real estate, and healthcare management.
ALBOE was entrusted with the task of curating and installing artworks contributed by alumni, students, and educators. For many of these artists, it marked their debut in showcasing their work publicly. ALBOE's involvement extended beyond mere curation; they engaged with each artist, offering consultation to present their creations in a manner that resonated with their artistic vision. This thoughtful approach aimed not only to showcase individual talents but also to attract the diverse cohorts that frequent the building, fostering a harmonious interaction between art and its viewers.
