Parklife

Gowanus, Brooklyn

Your Brooklyn Oasis for Casual Enjoyment

For Brooklyn residents seeking a laid-back haven, Parklife is the ultimate answer. It skillfully recreates the carefree ambiance of a day spent in the park, all while taking the form of a modern cocktail bar and restaurant, featuring authentic Mexican cuisine. Boasting an expansive 4,000 sq. ft. space, visitors can indulge in a harmonious blend of signature cocktails, delectable Mexican dishes, and engaging activities such as curling, cornhole, and life-sized Jenga—conveniently situated all in one locale. Additionally, the venue hosts a weekly movie night where cult classics are projected onto a massive screen.

The unique challenge of managing a bar and restaurant of this scale, offering a multitude of distinct amenities, arises when patrons utilize the space as if it were a public park. Therefore, both the indoor and outdoor areas necessitated clear directional signage. These signs serve a dual purpose: instructing visitors on where to purchase food and drinks while also ensuring adherence to the establishment's house rules.

Addressing these requirements, ALBOE designed typographic signage harmoniously blended with custom artwork and lettering, adorning the venue's walls and wooden surfaces. This creative approach infuses a sense of enjoyment, boldness, and lightheartedness into what are traditionally mundane instructions. Importantly, these visual cues alleviate employees from the need to repeatedly communicate basic guidelines to patrons, fostering a more efficient and enjoyable experience for all.
